100 Burpees done.
I have to say that I don’t feel any physical changes from doing these 100 burpees everyday. I happy to be doing regular exercise again but I’m far from pushing my physical boundaries and I’m definitely still in lazy mode. Its been 13 days so far which is almost 2 weeks and I don’t feel any fitter. I can say that I’m sleeping like a log though so that’s something.
I’m sleeping and enjoying sleep. It’s definitely important for me at this time of the year. We didn’t have any kind of summer at all this year in Newcastle. Its just been a really long autumn. Lots of rain and medium temperature weather, still cold enough to wear a coat but not cold enough to wear a scarf with it.
Today I went out with my friend for a picnic since it was forecasted to be the one nice day of the week and we’d been wanting to go for a picnic the whole ‘summer’. So we went to the local green and enjoyed nothing else but hot chips fresh from the local chip shop and some of my friends home baked treats.
While we were there, we saw that autumn leaves are already in! I shouldn’t be surprised at all but it confirms what I’ve been saying all along. at least now we will get to enjoy the beautiful colours of autumn that usually comes with the weather.
As I sat there on the picnic blanket it occurred to me not only how fast this year has gone but how much has been missed of our family and friends due to the lockdown. It was January when I held my friends brand new baby in my arms and now this little girl is sitting crawling and trying to walk. So much has been missed. This little baby has been born into a world so heavily reliant on technology.
It is through technology that she has been able to get to know and see her grandparents who live in another country. This is of course an advantage over not being able to see them at all. I wish that I could have had that opportunity to see my grandparents who live in other countries when I was growing up. As unnatural as it may seem it does have many benefits.
I just wonder how far this type of interaction will go with young children?
What will the future look like for them? Will they be having play dates with other children online? How strange would that be?
Learning about the outside world without having any real interaction with it. Growing up with technology and screens. I see children as young as the age of 2 who know how to play Candy crush and other games. I still struggle with certain rules for apps and things myself but I see small children who pick up technology in the blink of an eye.
One thing is clear, those who design the technology know very well who it’s designed for and its programmed in such a way that the young minds can easily grasp and navigate their way around it.
