Day 7 of #100daysofwriting - Writers Block - Asking for Help
If you are joining the #100daysofwriting Journey, I set out to write for 100 days, sharing information about personal experiences in Tech, Cybersecurity, and Hot Topics. The first few days came quickly, with information just flowing and ideas. However, a new week started, and a little writer's block occurred. Did the weekend Daylight Saving Time really wipe away all the ideas?
What to write about? What is exciting or new? <Insert Crickets>
Right before starting this writing journey, I connected with Rosie Pokorchak who is doing an amazing job building this Online IT Community of Experienced IT professionals at Gartner . (I'll be honest, I was pretty skeptical at first.)
I went through the verification process with Rosie. I began to utilize this newfound network, where IT Leaders ask poll questions and for help on tech situations. I instantly connected with another tech leader in another state and industry working through a similar technology challenge.
We connected on a quick teams call and did a quick information-sharing exchange that really shined the light on possible solutions that each of us had not considered.
Q. Why am I bringing this up?
A. Learn to ask for help. If you are stuck on a problem, or don't know how to do something, don't be afraid to ask for help. Even better, brainstorm solutions and work with someone to validate or provide feedback on those solutions.
Tips: Surround yourself with other problem-solvers, thinkers, curiosity seekers, and others who will uplift you. These individuals can be virtual or in-person.
