In the hustle and bustle of office life, coffee has always been more than just a beverage for me—it's been a catalyst for connection, innovation, and personal growth. Today, I want to share my coffee journey and how it has intertwined with my professional experiences.
1. From Instant to Inspired
My coffee journey began in an office that only provided instant coffee powder. The lacklustre taste left much to be desired, and I felt that a good cup of coffee could boost morale and productivity. Taking the initiative, I purchased a coffee machine and shared it for public use within the office, even obtaining approval from the safety officer. This small act not only improved the quality of our daily brew but also fostered a sense of community among colleagues. It was amazing to see how a simple cup of coffee could bring people together.
2. Embracing the Espresso Machine
Later, I joined a startup company that provided a professional coffee machine. This was my first experience making espresso beyond using Nespresso pods at home. Learning to operate the machine was both challenging and exciting. I honed my barista skills and enjoyed crafting quality espressos for myself and my teammates. This opportunity taught me the value of embracing new experiences and stepping out of my comfort zone.
3. A Sweet Surprise: The Biscuit Espresso Cup
One memorable highlight was discovering an espresso served in a cup made entirely of biscuit. It combined two of my favourite things—coffee and sweets—into one delightful experience. This inventive twist reminded me of the joy of creativity and thinking outside the box, both in coffee and in life.
4. The V60 Voyage
My passion for coffee led me to explore the V60 pour-over method. I practised it both at home and in the office, savouring the nuanced flavours it brought out in each brew. So dedicated was I to this method that I even packed my V60 kit on overseas trips, brewing coffee in hotel rooms. Before discovering the Aeropress, the V60 was my trusty companion, ensuring I could enjoy quality coffee wherever I went.

5. The Aeropress Adventure and Moving Forward
Earlier in my 100 Days of Growth journey, I shared a story about the Aeropress and how it revolutionised my coffee-making process. That post received overwhelming views. Due to unforeseen circumstances that I'd rather not dwell on, I had to take that post down. However, I'm still here on Day 68, continuing my journey, making—and occasionally spilling—coffee in the office kitchen. Life moves on, and I've learned the importance of resilience and maintaining a consistent pace.
Reflections on Growth and Connection
Looking back, coffee has been more than just a drink—it's been a conduit for learning, connection, and personal development. From enhancing office culture to embracing new brewing techniques, each experience has enriched my professional journey.
Do you have a coffee story or a ritual that enhances your day? Whether it's a favourite brewing method or a memorable coffee experience, I'd love to hear about it! Share your stories in the comments below.
