Day 47 - Comfort is The Enemy. Discomfort Is Your Friend. Here Is Why... (1,000 days content creation challenge)

I love being comfortable and yet I also know that comfort is the enemy

Why?

In the comfort zone, the brain goes to 'sleep' and yet the world never sleeps

In the comfort zone, you believe that you are at the top and yet being at the top is temporary because someone else is working hard to take your spot

In the comfort zone you imagine that you are secure and yet that's an illusion because your 'security' is in constant innovation and action

In the comfort zone you imagine that you can go for a break and yet what counts is to keep pushing for another breakthrough

Some scenarios of comfort…

It could be that you feel you have reached the pinnacle of your career and then 'switch off'

It could be that you feel you have cornered the market share in your industry and feel you don't need to sell and market more

You are in a long-term relationship and feel like you no longer need to date

That's comfort zone

That's dangerous

That's your enemy

And yet, when you choose to pursue discomfort, you will find yourself…

  • Creating more
  • Learning more
  • Growing more

Once you look at comfort as the enemy and discomfort as your friend, you open your mind, heart, eyes and hands to produce more

The most successful people push through the barrier of comfort and literally chase for discomfort while average people pursue comfort

Your outcome should be to pursue growth more than comfort and that means being uncomfortable most of the time

Here is how you can get out of the enemy territory of comfort

  • Be alert and switch on your comfort antennae
  • Be courageous to look at options
  • Choose your next level to aim for
  • Be decisive and start on a new journey
  • Keep pushing the boundaries as often as possible
  • Never settle for comfort

Comfort should be a temporary emotion to experience when celebrating. Then, immediately switch into the MORE game and push yourself.
