Day 4 in the Wendy House

Day 4 in the Wendy House

This week seems to have lasted about 4 weeks. I hadn't realised how much meetings and my social calendar takes up my time. Last night we had a fire in the garden which was very early for us, but hey, why not? We sat outside until it went dark with candles - what is it about watching flames that makes you lose yourself? Perhaps there's something primeval there. In fact we are all in a bit of a primeval state at the moment. Worrying about hunting for food - although I was logged on to the supermarket website again at 3am trying to sneak another delivery for my dad next week.

I've also been having MS Team one to ones with the Strategi team today and I realised that people are not just working from home, they are blurring the normally very defined lines between family life and work life. This is work life balance at it's most acute. I've seen birthday teddy bears, handstands in the background and the variety of curtains and blinds that we all have going on.

What is making me most proud though is the willingness from the team to keep up our service levels, going above and beyond to help our clients and the pure determination to keep our work family as one. We even did a quiz at lunchtime after our weekly team meeting to break things up a bit.

As the week progresses it's clear that the only way to get rid of this situation is to stay away from each other, not our natural style as humans and the reason why I think most people are struggling with the concept. I keep thinking about what it must have been like for my grandparents during the war. What mental resilience must they have had to deal with what happened for 5 years. If there's one (and I am sure there are many) good thing go come out of this it's that hopefully our thoughts about ourselves will take up less time in the future than the thoughts about others.
