DAY 39 - THE COVENANT OF MARRIAGE.

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 2:23-24

"The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called "woman," for she was taken out of man.' That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

PRINCIPLE: Marriage in the kingdom is a covenant of unity, love, and purpose.

It reflects God’s relationship with His people.

DEVOTION

When Adam declared Eve as "bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh," it was a proclamation of unity and belonging. This foundational truth about marriage emphasizes the deep connection and covenantal bond between husband and wife. Marriage is not merely a contract but a sacred union designed to reflect the relationship between Christ and His church.

In the kingdom, marriage is a partnership that seeks to fulfill God’s purposes on earth. It is marked by mutual respect, love, and submission, as outlined in Ephesians 5:21–33. The "leaving" and "cleaving" described in this passage speak to the exclusivity and priority of the marital relationship.

Even if you are not married, the principle of covenant applies to all relationships in the kingdom. Healthy relationships are rooted in commitment, sacrifice, and a desire to honor God. Reflect on your current relationships. Are they fostering unity and reflecting God’s love?

PRAYER

"Lord, thank You for the gift of covenant relationships, especially marriage. Teach me to honor the covenants in my life and to reflect Your love and faithfulness in my relationships. Strengthen the bonds of unity and purpose in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
