I love endings. They bring closure and hope for new beginnings.?
I also love beginnings. They show prospect for things to come.?
This week I finished a book I started a while ago. I could’ve finished it a long time ago but I decided to savor the writing. I read it in bite-sized pages till I finished.?
You know that feeling you have when you finish a series you loved and you don’t know what to do with yourself after. That’s how I felt.?
But you know what? Finishing the book meant I got to read another one and the book I’m reading now is even more interesting than the last.?
Like books and series, I used get anxious about ending a year, especially when I had gotten so familiar with it. I remember in primary school, we all used to make the mistake of writing the date of the previous year for the first week??
The new year always needs some getting use to.
I sometimes enter unsure of what the year holds. But this year was a little different. I entered 2023 knowing that anything the year has in store for me, I would have to create and that’s how I’m stepping into 2024 too. With the mindset that it’s my responsibility to take what I want from next year.?
When you see the future as something that happens to you, there will definitely be room for anxiety. But when you see your future as something you create, it gives you hope.?
So let yourself hope, let yourself dream. It’s the last day of the year. Tomorrow, 2024 begins. There are 366 days of endless possibilities that you can make happen.?
But make sure you allow yourself close the page to 2023.?
It’s more than possible to begin a new year and still be living in the past. Don’t do that. Like we talked about last week, allow yourself drop off your baggage. For everything that went wrong this year, there’s a lesson you can learn. Pick the lesson and leave the regret in 2023. What has happened is past, you have now and the future. Allow yourself get excited for it.?

I know it might be hard but also let yourself be grateful for those lessons you learnt. One of my favorite songs is 'roses of success' from the movie, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. A line from the song goes, “For every big mistake you make be grateful, for that mistake you’ll never make again.”?
It might seem hard in the moment but there’s always something to be grateful for.?
Walk into 2024 with lessons and you can turn them into success!
Random fact of the week: this might be a normal fact but it’s one I never realized until today. A common year (that is a year with 365 days) always starts and ends on the same day of the week. 2023 started on a Sunday and ends on a Sunday.?
I think there’s something poetic about my first entry being exactly 52 weeks ago. I’m very happy to see that something I had to force myself to do has grown into 53 beautiful entries in this last day of the year.?
To be honest, I never thought about what would happen after I got to 52 weeks. I just knew I wanted to hold myself to consistency.?
So, as the 53rd entry of the year, I say a big thank you to all 4k+ of you for following me on this awesome journey of growth. I enjoyed writing to you and reading all your comments in 2023. We have all learnt so much this year, I know we will learn much more in 2024.?
Have a wonderful last day of 2023?
See you next year!?

Dee?
