Gratitude.
We are always quick to let people know when they are doing wrong but how quick are we to say a simple ‘thank you.’
?
Gratitude
“The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness” (dictionary).
Gratitude
Each morning before I do anything else, I do my gratitude exercise. I find 10 things that I’m grateful for. Some days it’s easy some days not.? There are a couple of things that are on the list every day but for the most part I find 10 things to be grateful for however big or small including things people have done for me and/or to help me.
?I had something else planned for today’s activity but two things happened, one late last night and the other first thing this morning that pushed me to change my mind.
Last night, before I went to bed a friend messaged me about something and ended the message by saying how much she is enjoying my experiences on this journey that is Everyday for 5ifty Days. I started my day and found an email from someone else telling me how much she is enjoying the journey. So I ended my day with a smile and started it with a smile.
?
And I realised that while I’ve been congratulating myself for staying with it, for trying something new and writing about it each day, I haven’t acknowledged you the readers for your support. Writing is quite an isolating activity and without readers, this wouldn’t be a blog, it would just be my journal. I’m able to see how many people read it and have read it and I know there is a core of loyal followers – I don’t necessarily know who they are but I know they are there. And I know there are people who dip in and read a few at a time. Again, I don’t know who they are but I know that they are there. And that is what keeps me going.? Yesterday, I talked about how knowing people read the blog keeps me accountable but what I didn’t say is how much it motivates me, not as a rod to beat myself with, but to know that people are enjoying my journey and want to read about it. It motivates me to try something new and it motivates me when I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with life.
?
So, my something new today is to publicly thank those of you that are reading this blog. I want to thank those of you that have liked it on Facebook and those of you that have commented on the blog page. (I do respond to your comments but I’m not sure if you’re notified when I do) and those of you that are just reading and enjoying it. I have another 17 days left and some interesting activities planned so I hope you’ll stick with me till the end of the ride.
?
Thank you!
This a reboot of a project I ran in 2017 where I challenged myself to do something I had never done before every day for 50 days. I haven’t altered anything.
If you’re reading this for the first time I hope it inspires you to try something you’ve never done before. If you’ve read it before I hope it re-ignites a passion for something you forgot you wanted to explore.
