Day 3: A tough day

Day 3: A tough day

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you are well. I must admit that these first days of social confinement are proving to be quite unusual.  I feel strange, with a great sense of responsibility and at the same time, a tremendous sense of satisfaction: our teams are responding in an amazing way.  The rate of work and problem solving is extremely swift; we know we must give our best now because the number of people infected keeps increasing.

But I am convinced that we are going to win this battle. All together. We have an important mission in this country: to beat COVID19.  Spanish society can count on Sanitas to face this challenge.

As I told you yesterday, 98% of our capacity in our call centre, videoconsultations and 24 hour emergency teams have now been set up to operate remotely… a capacity that is now stable. On this front we are calm and confident as we continue to respond to all those other health problems that people have and need us for.

In the meantime, on the other front, we continue to fight “in the eye of the storm” against COVID19.   Yesterday I was told that three people had died that day in our hospitals: this is going to be very tough.

We are tracking the work of our #Healthcareprofessionals by the minute whilst we reorganise our resources to medicalise the maximum number of beds possible and adapt consultation rooms and other hospital spaces in anticipation of an increased number of people admitted to our hospitals. All our resources are, of course, being shared with the Ministry of Health and are at the disposal of public needs.

In the dental clinics that we operate to attend emergencies, we are carrying out triage by videoconsultation, so that patients do not have to travel unless strictly necessary.

And we continue to receive offers of volunteering, both from healthcare and non-healthcare professionals. An amazing sign of generosity and commitment.

All this just serves to reaffirm our commitment as part of the health system of our country, that we are engaged in the collective effort to fight against the coronavirus and that we are contributing with all our capacity and resources to this end.

At this difficult time, our mission is more relevant than ever: to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives.  We are putting our hearts and souls into accomplishing this mission.

Please, take care everybody.

Warm regards to all.

We are all #Healthcareprofessionals.
