Day 3 of Keynotes worth watching at this years WWDC – Thursday + Object Capture API initial thoughts
I don't know about you, but I spend almost the entire night playing around with the new Object Capture API, Apple just released. It's a blast!

Managed to crunch through 8 different scans in a few hours, which would have taken me many days to do normally using Reality Capture. Granted, the quality of the resulting mesh isn't as good as with Reality Capture, but the textures basically look identical! I feel like it is a bit too aggressive on the decimation of the mesh. It would have been nice if it weighted the decimation and kept details like the "Kastrup" lettering below.
Also, the Succulent plant below was impossible for Reality Capture to stitch, but the Object Capture API did it in a breeze.
This definitely gets added to my toolbelt. Especially since, until now you basically needed a PC to do Photogrammetry. Now we can do it quickly on a Mac.
