Day 3 in Ghana - A day that changed my life.

Third day in Ghana was a day I will never forget. My partner and I rode nearly 5 hours into the heart of the country into some of the most impoverished regions. To say this was eye-opening is a severe understatement. We ended up in his home village known as Weomoasa where we were required to meet with the Chief about our arrival. We spoke through a translator about our projects in Ghana and I told him of my plan to assist young adults who have earned his blessing from his village to attain a Visa to come work for Connected Solutions Group, LLC for 3 month periods and learn valuable skills they can bring back home and apply. My plan is to have a new pair every quarter that are able to return home and build on our initiative there an create opportunities for the entire village.

In one of the more touching moments of my life, the Chief essentially made me an honorary member of the town, made sure it was known that I was welcome day or night for the rest of my life, and even offered me land - which was staggering. We hung in the town where I became kind of a novelty to the children. We were way off the path - I am not sure many of them had seen white folks before. The would run around me giggling and touching me in a genuinely good natured way. When we stopped to talk a crowd of kids would gather around. America is a fairy tale to them. When I told them if they worked hard and did well in school they would have a real chance to come to the USA and work for my company, they looked at each other and beamed.

All of it had a dramatic impact on me, but the kids knocked me on my rear. Their spirit despite their struggles will impact me every day of my life.  I made sure to help these kids in the moment as best I could, but in my heart I just wanted to have briefcases of money for every one of them. Kids will die because they can not afford a $10 antibiotic. It is gut-wrenching.

If you have interest in helping me have an impact on these lives, and maybe temporary jobs for extremely kind and hard working individuals, please contact me. The wireless industry is booming here. They can learn skills to apply back home - and that is the key. They need to return home and have an impact, not just find a way to stay in the USA like many do.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for touching my heart Wiamousa, Ghana.
