Day 28 - Be Courageous to Admit Mistakes

Day 28 - Be Courageous to Admit Mistakes

Sometimes the most difficult thing we have to do is admit a mistake. It's made more difficult as pride slips in. Pride is very sneaky and a destroyer of relationships. Pride says things like:

"I should have known better"

"I can't believe I made that mistake"

Pride can also turn into fear, embarrassment, and blame shifting. Very sneaky.

The act of admitting we made a mistake is often more stressing to us than the actual mistake itself.

Being accountable with our mistakes is a sign of emotional intelligence, maturity, and integrity. The vulnerability one exhibits by admitting mistakes helps build trust amongst team members.

We all make mistakes. By making this a regular and acceptable practice we begin to remove the stigma associated with mistake making, resulting in deeper levels of trust and accountability. No one wants to work with someone that can't admit a mistake.
