Day 27 - 8 Life Lessons From A Sports Day Event (1,000 days content creation challenge)

In the last two days, I have attended sports days for my daughters who are in primary. Below are 8 life lessons I noticed...

1)??? Get back up

Some competitors fell down but they would get back up and move on. That’s what winners always do.

2)??? Support works

The overall house which won also had the most vocal and supportive parents. Typically winning teams also have winning support. How much do you support your team?

3)??? Confidence is magic

One of the stars of the day today was super confident. A showman. Think of…But he also won all his races. You cannot doubt the power of self-belief and performance.

4)??? Gift and grit

Gifts have a huge role in sports. And yet, there was a certain common trait among all the top performers. It was a certain sense of determination and never give up attitude. Let’s call it grit. How much grit do you have?

5)??? Preparation

One of the teams that won a certain event had one student briefing colleagues on how to go about executing one of the events. They won. Preparation is powerful.

6)??? Follow the rules

One of the teams broke a rule and they were disqualified. One broken rule or procedure can break your future.

7)??? Team work is power

One of the activities involved filling water in a pipe with holes which needed to be plugged by team members. In one of the groups, some members did not stick to the task and water leaked out. That team did not win. The one that did definitely have everyone fulfilling their roles.

8)??? Finish the race

One team abandoned the event because everyone was ahead of them. For another which was way behind, one of the teachers encouraged them to finish. They did. I believe this lesson will live on in their current and future reality. Finish what you start.

Of the above lessons, which one will you implement in your personal life or team?

If you found this piece to be useful, kindly share with others and I will be appreciative. Let’s work together as a team to share something positive with the world, shall we?
