Day 24 A Message from our Chair

It’s Christmas Eve, and today’s Advent Calendar post is written by our Chair,?Sharon Porter

I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.??

Time to recharge our batteries and ready ourselves for the challenges that may lie ahead in 2023.??

Christmas is a very special time for us all, a time to spend with family and friends, reflect on a year passed and plan for the New Year ahead.???

There is nothing more magical than decorated trees, lights and presents to brighten up our lives… but it’s also important that this period is used to reflect upon the misfortune of others around us.??

Our neighbours, the elderly, the sick and vulnerable, who are perhaps spending this festive period alone or in hardship. Please do what you can to extend the spirit of Christmas beyond your own home and into the lives of those who may need assistance or kindness shown in the coming weeks.??

Once again from the Chair of LOHSG, have a safe, happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas. May 2023 bring you everything you wished for and more.?

As Chair of LOHSG I ensure that the Group operates to its maximum potential, and guides it's decision making to ensure all our members have access to any health and safety information they require through the various presentations and the knowledgeable professionals involved with the group. I also update and maintain our LOHSG website. I have more than 25 years' experience in Health and Safety and a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the International Safety Quality Environment Management Association - ISQEM. I am committed to providing a safe and healthful workplace and have worked for a number of industries including manufacturing, food, energy, steel, transport and storage and recycling. In my spare time I enjoy walking, cycling and reading, and when I have a free weekend I enjoy visiting the Lake District.
