Day 22 - sankey diagram

Door number 22 continues the theme of visualisation. Today you will find a sankey chart in the #ThoughtSpotAdventCalendar. As I mentioned sankey diagrams illustrate a flow between two or more attributes. Probably the last time you saw the cost structure o revenues of the tech giants presented on beautiful charts.

We will do something similar. Let's start by answer - what were the quantity on Mondays and Tuesdays in November and October.

You can see for yourself that the default line graph did not necessarily succeed in illustrating the answer. We have two attributes here. The day of the week and the month. Let us change these chart to sankey.

No additional measures. You have simply changed the chart type. And that's it. #SpeedOfThought. On this diagram You can immediately see how each day breaks down into months and how each month breaks down into days. To see the exact figures, simply move the cursor to the desired section of the graph. Note that it is possible to view both the value of the whole attribute and the part that goes into another attribute.

You can add more attributes to the sankey diagram. In the diagram options you can arrange them in any order you wish. In the example you see the previous answer extended by size.
