Day 209 out of 1095: A Check-in with My Mentor
Today, I had a pivotal meeting with my mentor – an experienced entrepreneur with multiple exits under his belt, someone who’s seen and done it all. Together, we reviewed the past two weeks, reflecting on wins, challenges, and the path ahead.
In the fast-paced world of startups, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to pause. But these pauses – these platforms for reflection – are essential to building something meaningful. They allow us to step back from the grind, recalibrate, and make sure we’re heading in the right direction.
Why are Check-Ins so Crucial?
1. Refocus: It’s easy to get lost in the noise of tasks and distractions. Regular check-ins bring us back to the core goals.
2. Celebrate Small Wins: Progress is often gradual, and if we don’t acknowledge it, we risk losing motivation.
3. Course Correction: Identifying challenges early prevents them from becoming roadblocks.
4. Recharge: Asking ourselves, "How do I feel about the journey so far?" helps maintain sustainable energy for the long haul.
What’s Your Platform for Reflection?
How do you ensure you’re taking a moment to assess your progress? Do you rely on a mentor, an advisor, or perhaps a tool to see the bigger picture?
At day 209, this pause made me realize how far we’ve come. The goal may still seem distant, but every small step counts. Reflection isn’t a break from progress – it’s part of it.
So, what’s your process for slowing down, and what insights have emerged from your pauses?

Remember: When everything’s moving fast, the smartest move might be to pause – even just for a moment.
