Day 2: Stream 1 PIT

Wao! It was another day of extensive training. Practical questions relating to various concepts in taxation, such as VAT, Pioneer Status Incentives, allowable and non-allowable deductions, and income exempted from tax, were treated. Most especially, the participants were put into groups of 17, and each group was assigned a taxpayer file to carry out an examination of the file and the tax returns filed therein. Participants had time to brainstorm and identify issues that put them on inquiry, and each group prepared a report of their observations made. Questions raised by participants were addressed, and participants who had not carried out examination of returns before the training have hands-on experience of examination of returns.
