Day 2 - The 6-week challenge: Launching a Virtual Event

Day 2 - The 6-week challenge: Launching a Virtual Event

Day 2

Yesterday, Nicole and I poured over the gazillion (okay, about 40) insanely qualified applicants to select our project team and we're thrilled to say that we'll begin notifying the 11 staffers this evening!

If you were not selected for one of our paid "staff" positions, but still want to be part of creating a virtual event and gaining the experience, you can volunteer! We will be working through a variety of engagement options for you choose from, ranging from just watching it unfold on YouTube to task-based roles to larger chunks of the pie. And if you have an idea that you want to try out just to see if it will work and to get the experience doing it, please propose it to us!

We also met up with Lucas Cioffi of QiqoChat to kick-start setting up our Summit site and planning Circles. QiqoChat is like a wrapper that you put around Zoom to give it a nice little hug and a whole lot more functionality. It's way more affordable than a gigantic virtual platform, and simple for participants to navigate around. Here's Lucas walking me through setting up a Circle for our planning meetings and kicking off the event page for the actual Summit.

OH! and we learned to set up YouTube Live so we can livestream the planning meetings, and so we can pull it in to our QiqiChat page to have fun content on the main page for the event. Here was our test run...

Here's how you can get involved in this journey with us:

  • Watch our progress: Daily LinkedIn updates (like a journal!)
  • See it get created: You can watch our twice-weekly planning meetings live on our YouTube Channel (subscribe to get notified when we go live)
  • Join in the process: You can join the Age of Conversation Slack channel and be part of the creation of this event
  • Register for the event: The Age of Conversation Summit, September 9th!
  • JOIN THE 6-WEEK CHALLENGE: What will you accomplish over the next 6 weeks? (join the Slack channel to make your commitment!)

I didn't know lyrical dance was an option! I would have sent that in as my virtual experience!!!! Just kidding. I don't dance on internet. Just in my car when I hope no one is looking.
