Day 11: Dear Santa, we have some insurance suggestions.

Dear Santa,

We heard here at R Street that you had some issues with flooding at your workshop. We applaud you and Mrs. Claus for looking into flood insurance even though you are not in a flood zone or by a coast. Have you considered further insurance for other areas of the North Pole? We would like to explain to you all the other areas you can insure?so you have a smooth holiday?season.?

First, we understand that the North Pole does not belong to any country and assume that you cross from the North Pole at the northern Canadian border. Does that require a visa? Canada has gotten more stringent lately about Americans traveling to their northern neighbor. But all those problems can go away with the proper travel insurance policy. It would be advantageous for you to have a travel insurance policy anyways since you make a trip around the world in one night.

We have heard that some spoiled children were not happy last year when they found the toys on their wish list differed in material ways from the toys Santa delivered. Many complained to their parents that, once again, most toys were “batteries not included.” So to protect yourself from any litigation from frustrated families, we recommend Santa buys a gift givers’ errors and omissions policy, with $100,00 limit per occurrence/$1,000,000 aggregate limit.?

Also Santa, you need a commercial auto policy for your sled, with VIN number and MVR to assure the insurer there you haven't been in any moving violations. Every year you put a lot of miles on your sleigh so it would be smart for you to get a commercial auto policy. In addition, you don't want to forget about pet insurance for your trusty reindeer and goods in transit insurance for all the presents being moved on the sleigh!

One more thing — elves need workers’ compensation coverage, so Santa make sure you are paying the employer portion!

Now this might be overwhelming with how many areas of coverage you need so you might want to consider an umbrella insurance policy. An umbrella insurance policy covers claims that might exceed the limits of your regular insurance policy. We hope our suggestions are useful for you up at the North Pole! Happy Holidays!
