Day-11 of the 30-day Mindset challenge... Exponential changes

Welcome to Day - 11 of the 30-day Mindset challenge!

Today, I want you to take a moment to marvel at the critical exponential revolutions happening all around us.

Consider the Human Genome Project, a groundbreaking research initiative that aimed to sequence the complete genome of a human being. In 1990, this goal seemed nearly impossible, with sceptics predicting exorbitant costs that could run into hundreds of billions of dollars. However, technological progress, as exemplified by Moore's Law, proved to be an unstoppable force of nature.

Ray Kurzweil, an esteemed engineer and inventor, was among the few who foresaw that genomic sequencing could be achieved within the set time and budget. Despite sceptics pointing to the slow progress of only 1% of the human genome sequenced after seven and a half years, Kurzweil recognized the exponential growth pattern. He knew that being at 1% meant being just seven doublings away from 100%, and it had been doubling every year. As a result, the project miraculously reached its goal within six years, on time and within budget.

The speed of demonetization in this field has continued at its rapid pace, moving at 5x Moore's law. What was once a 13-year endeavour costing $2.7 billion can now be accomplished in a few hours for around $100. The entire human genome can be sequenced for as little as $600.
