Day 10: The Power Pose
Another late Advent post today. We now have a tree of our own, with lights and baubles and tinsel.
For those of you who have used this magical trick to get your brain in gear, I invite you to practice it again this week. For those of you who have not heard or tried Amy Cuddy's Power Pose, you're in for a treat.
The idea is straightforward, you stand with your feet hip distance apart, you put your hands on your hips, stand as straight as possible, neck straight. and look ahead. Breathe with purpose, deeply.
You're practicing the power pose.
In her very popular TED talk Amy Cuddy talks about how this pose (held for 2 minutes) will tell your brain you're the boss. Take a look here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks-_Mh1QhMc&vl=en
I have certainly used this technique before an important talk or presentation.
Try it next week and let me know how you felt after...

Each day, until the 24th December I will share something small with you. The 'something small' will be related to Employee Experience. The 'something small' might be something to think about, something you might use with your team, on yourself or you might share the idea with someone else you know. One small idea will be shared every day with one collective purpose; to make the experience of work better.
