Day 10 of 90: Team Work Makes the Dream Work!

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go as a team!” After yesterday’s focus on individual productivity, day 10 of the 90-day challenge is all about teams. What do I pay attention to when hiring, how do I manage teams internally and much more in this article.

?????? Day 10 of 90 – Team Work Makes the Dream Work!

The Foundation: Top-Down Principles

As a leader, you’re responsible for setting the team principles. These must be enforced from the top down. There’s no room for democratic decisions here. This means that the principles you establish must apply throughout the entire organization, even if different departments might have their own sub-principles.

Inspiration for Team Principles

If you’re looking for inspiration, check out other successful organizations. Read about their principles and consider whether they align with your values. The key is that these principles must always be lived. They shouldn’t just be written down but should be visible in every aspect of work life.

The Number of Principles

Typically, three to four principles at the lower end make sense, while seven to eight should be the upper limit. Our company has seven principles, and I already find that borderline. More would only cause confusion.

Our Seven Team Principles

Let me introduce you to our seven team principles and share my thoughts on them:

  1. Integrity: The foundation of everything. Integrity means that your interests align with those of the company. It’s about living your values in every situation and being honest.
  2. Extreme Ownership: Take responsibility for your tasks and trust that others will do the same. It’s rare to find someone who truly takes ownership of their mistakes and actively works to fix them.
  3. Resourcefulness: Be inventive and creative. It’s about achieving a lot with few resources. The best employees are those who work smart and efficiently.
  4. Impact: Instead of passion, we chose impact. It’s crucial to work on the right things that actually deliver results.
  5. Candor: Open feedback is essential. It’s hard to find people who can give you constructive feedback, but it’s invaluable.
  6. Meritocracy: Good ideas lead to good decisions, which in turn lead to good results. Decisions should always be based on the best idea, not on position or other irrelevant factors.
  7. Customer Focus: The right customer is king. Listen to the feedback from the right customers and show leniency where necessary.

Conclusion

These principles help us work effectively as a team and achieve great goals together. What do you think? Can you identify with these principles?

Tomorrow we’ll continue with exciting content.
