David Sole inspires Scots in London
Russell Dalgleish
Scottish Serial Entrepreneur, Investor and Entrepreneur in Residence
It was another exciting end to the month for Scottish Business Network as we brought together three more incredible Scottish Business Leaders to speak to our London members and guests.
It has been an eventful May, with our Co-Founder Russell Dalgleish travelling around the Outer Hebrides securing an understanding of the island entrepreneurial scene, Christine and Kendra continuing to grow the network overseas, while the back office team prepared for GDPR.
The event kicked off with an exclusive interview for our Members Only event. Our resident host, Fraser Allen, sat down with Former Scotland Rugby Captain, Chairman, and Managing Partner of School for CEO’s, David Sole.
David gave a unique insight into his career so far and shed some light on the importance of developing curious and emotionally intelligent leaders, in sport and in businesses.
After the terrific interview on a sunny balcony, the guests arrived for the main event. Our three entertainers for the evening were Andrew Morrison of AM Bid, Dr Gillian Murray from Heriot-Watt University, and Mark Evans of NomadiX Media – Mark kindly let SBN Marketing Manager, Scott Dalgleish act as assistant to demonstrate the iWalker for the audience.
First up was Dr. Gillian Murray who was with us to talk about Heriot-Watt’s brand new Discovery and Innovation Centre.
Gillian is looking for mentors, and sponsors, for the entrepreneurs and startups which will be coming into the centre, those with real-life, tangible experience of growing and scaling businesses.
Next up we had Mark Evans, the Founder and CEO of NomadiX Media. NomadiX Media have developed some very exciting wearable tech which is allowing advertisers to reach a more targeted consumer base with the benefit of capturing demographic information in real time.
They are about to start their funding round and Mark is looking for investors who would be interested and possible mentors that could come into the business to help guide them to the next level.
Finally, we had Andrew Morrison, Managing Director of AM Bid. We were very excited to have Andrew speak as he, and the AM Bid team, have fully embraced the ethos of Scottish Business Network since becoming members in January. Everything from offering to help previous speakers to striking deals with other members.
Andrew spoke about how he came to run AM Bid and how the company has grown into what it is today, with bid experts across the UK helping their clients who now stretch overseas. AM Bid is looking for larger organisations who are trying to improve their bidding process with help from AM Bid and their award-winning methodology.
Thanks must go to RBS and NatWest who hosted us for the evening and their terrace provided a fabulous setting for the event.
If you are interested in coming along to an event or joining the network, you can apply for membership on the SBN website here. Details of our next event can be found here.
