David Foster Appointed Youi Chairman

We are pleased to announce that David Foster has been appointed Chairman, effective from 1 January 2023.

Mr Foster, who joined Youi’s Board in August 2019, is a highly experienced Non-Executive Director with over 25 years of experience in financial services. He is on the Board of numerous companies including Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and G8 Education, and has held senior executive roles including CEO of Suncorp Bank and 14 years at Westpac.

Youi CEO Hugo Schreuder said Mr Foster’s experience would be invaluable to Youi’s Board and executive team as it responded to the opportunities and challenges presented by Australia’s general insurance market.

“David has already made a significant contribution to the Board over the last few years and I am looking forward to working with him as Chairman. David’s extensive financial services experience, both as a Director and in executive roles, means that he is well placed to lead the Board and support Youi’s executive team, as we continue to rapidly grow our business in Australia and provide awesome service to our customers.”

Mr Foster said he was looking forward to leading the Youi Board in the next phase of its growth. “Youi has worked hard to establish itself as the leading general insurance challenger brand and has successfully expanded into other products such as compulsory third party insurance in New South Wales and South Australia, as well as small business cover through the acquisition of Blue Zebra insurance,” he said.

“Australia’s insurance industry is evolving rapidly and I’m looking forward to working with the Board and executive team to ensure Youi continues to differentiate itself through careful risk selection and the awesome service it provides to its customers.”

Mr Schreuder also acknowledged the efforts of outgoing Chairman Campbell Corfe who has been in the role since 2011 and who will remain with the Youi Board as a Non-Executive Director.

“It has been a privilege to work closely with Campbell as Youi Chairman over the last 11 years. In his time as Chairman, Youi has grown from humble beginnings in its small Sunshine Coast office to become one of the biggest challenger insurance companies in Australia with hundreds of thousands of customers and over 1,700 employees,” he said.
