Davana Crop Update: Navigating Challenges in the 2024 Season
Nursery Setback
Commencing in the second week of November, the initial stages of Davana cultivation faced an unforeseen challenge. The nursery preparations were hampered by unpredictable rains, causing a delay of 15-20 days in the transplantation schedule. Consequently, this delay has affected the overall crop cycle, pushing a significant portion of arrivals to March.
Crop Progress and Challenges
Preliminary reports indicate that the current year's crop is showing signs of weakness. However, optimism persists as positive progression is expected if favorable climatic conditions prevail. Sunny days and cool nights are crucial for optimal oil yield and davanone content in the Davana crop.
Market Dynamics
Currently, the market holds approximately 4-5 metric tons of the previous year's davana oil, which is notably higher than the standard annual availability at this point. Following last year's trend, an estimated 50% of this stock is anticipated to be sold before the next season.
Looking Forward
Despite these challenges, the dedication and resilience of our stakeholders remain unwavering. As we address these obstacles, we are committed to delivering high-quality Davana oil.
