Daunting and Dazzling December

2024 - a year in review.

Can the years go any faster, don't answer that as I dread to think that time can seemingly be sped up even more ??. 2024 has proved to be a rollercoaster ?? of a year for me and many freelancers and small business owners. Forever waiting for other business owners to find the right moment to use our services after pushbacks and waiting for elections, holidays, budgets, and illness can be frustrating. There is never a perfect moment! Life has to go on and to build a business, we must push forward, evolve, and adapt to an ever-changing economy.

Quarter one - January ended for me to be a massive letdown by people, people saying I had won business but then the business never materialised or I was expected to work miracles on a failing business without being paid. One thing I have learned is that now never count your chickens ?? until the work comes forth or a payment in your bank account.

February was building to my gallbladder removal and March all being about recovery so I wasn't looking to onboard anyone at that point.

Quarter Two - This proved to be the most stressful, from dodgy fake profiles and threatening emails to having a good cleanse of my LinkedIn account and tweaking the services I offer. It also seemed to rain continuously and would never stop either apart from a week in May. Sadly again the world was waiting for an election and no one was spending any money.

June also saw my much-needed holiday to Norfolk in a week summer decided to visit and I felt like I was on a Greek island with the bare minimal VA work being done, it was bliss to be sightseeing and having some beach time ???

Quarter Three - July finally saw a long-awaited election, but in reality, it's just more of the same BS from our corrupt government no matter who is in charge. Then everyone pushed back again for the school holidays.

August did provide two new clients much to my surprise as I was expecting it to be a non-event month and finally a month of decent warm weather! About time! ????

September was an interesting month, I attended a gym session thing that I won a prize in but after a few sessions I didn't like it, they triggered anxiety, I found it difficult to fit into my routine and with a load of ad hoc project work coming in something had to eventually give.

I also became a Business Buzz Ambassador for Peterborough which is now an award-winning Buzz networking group - The next meeting is Tuesday 17th December 10 am-12 pm

Quarter 4 - well what can I say, I'm not surprised the economy shrank in October when everyone held their breath for the horrid budget. Is there no end to our crappy governments that like to throw us small businesses under the bus! At the end of October and beginning of November I suffered along with most of the UK with the dreadful cough and cold virus doing the rounds, then all of a sudden it was December.

October did provide us with a second instalment of the aurora borealis which was sensational to witness twice in six months.

December came, and then more bad news: I lost two clients at once. The positive is that I am planning bigger and better things in 2025 and will have the capacity to help many more business owners.

It's been a tough second year in business for me, much tougher than year one! I am learning, I'm gaining more confidence and I will be here in 2025 to help you and your business out.
