I'd guess that 95% of Power BI or Excel Data Models need a Date Table
If you don't know what a Date Table / Calendar Table is or why you need one then check out my explanation here

3 年Wyn, whenever I build a datamodel in Power BI I use DAX to build a fully automated date table. One where you never have to update the start and end date because you can calculate those with MIN & MAX function from your data model. So I don't understand why I should use Power Query to build one. In Excel I guess Power Query works better but in PBI I always use the Calendar function in combination with ADDCOLLUMS and other stuff. At SQLBI they have fantastic template for that which you can use over and over again in every Power BI model from Marco Russo (and Alberto !)

3 年If anyone has downloaded the free template there was an issue with the Financial Year that I thought I'd fixed but hadn't saved properly - thanks to Ian Sydney for picking up that one. Should be all good now ??
