In Statista's recent published study surveying 1,200 organizations, we find that ransomware attacks not only are evolving with AI advancements, but are occurring at a more wide-spread rate. In 2023, 72.7% of organizations were affected by ransomware attacks worldwide - continuing the worrisome trend of increased impact year over year.?

Earlier this week, SonicWall announced a patch for a critical vulnerability uncovered in August (CVE-2024-40766), that could lead to unauthorized resource access or firewall crashes. SOC Company Arctic Wolf indicated that this vulnerability may have been exploited for initial access in Akira ransomware attacks'.

All parties including Dataprise recommend that organizations running affected SonicWall products upgrade to the latest supported SonicOS firmware versions.?
With hybrid work model here to stay, organizations are turning to cloud solutions? to quickly scale with unexpected business growth, provide stronger network security, and clearer collaborations. Studies show that 45% of organizations surveyed are already running 'significant workloads' through Microsoft Azure and that an additional 12% are experimenting and planning to leverage Azure more in 2025.

Veeam released their annual Data Protection Trends Report and found in 2024 that 41% of surveyed organizations primary method of Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery (BC/DR) lies in cloud-infrastructure or a DRaaS partner, with it expected to jump up to 47% in 2026
Phishing continues to be a central avenue for malicious actors to target organizations. In fact, in 2024, the most commonly reported cybercrime by a landslide was Phishing/Spoofing.

AI advancements have made phishing attempts more realistic than ever, so creating a strong cybersecurity culture within your organization has never been more important. Taking those best practices, and also applying them to your personal life can reduce attack avenues.
