Databricks Workshop at IPS

Databricks Workshop at IPS

Exactly one year after the first Databricks workshop organized by IPS, we had the pleasure to meet again as part of the partnership between IPS and Databricks at IPS Prague. We had the honor to welcome two Databricks representatives,?Ferman Othman?(account manager) and?Yasar Kaya?(architect). During the two days (14.9.-15.9.) we learned about the latest strategy of Databricks, focusing on Unity Catalog and data sharing.

Unity Catalog is definitely the most exciting Databricks feature that came out this year, and it has a huge potential, especially in large enterprises with multiple Databricks teams. From IPS point of view, the most useful features related to Unity Catalog are:

  • Delta Sharing and Databricks-to-Databricks Delta Sharing, hugely simplifying sharing data across the enterprise
  • Shallow Clone, revolutionizing the way how we can work with data, by treating data as code (analogy to a git repository and the concept of branching)
  • Data Lineage, simplifying and automating mapping between source and destination, supporting the column level

among other great features that Databricks teams can benefit from.

During the workshop, we also went through technical questions raised by the IPS BI team, probably the most fruitful part of the event for our team. We were delighted to receive words of praise and appreciation from Databricks representatives for our skilled team.

We will continue the cooperation with Databricks architects on getting help on technical questions and customer solutions, and will strive to further increase the awareness of IPS inside Databricks helping us to?gain new opportunities.

Greetings from us in Prague!

We had a great dinner in?Brasileiro Ambiente?with all 10 members of the?IPS BI?team which are involved in Databricks activities:
