Data, Data Use & Abuse - A reality

Be it marketing or politics, there are legal/open data (definition keeps changing), illegal data, and grey data (kind of legal but not ethical). Every business, country and person needs to be aware of it. In #digitalmarketing, your competitors can get a lot of data about your business and action, so can you about your competitors

Similarly what businesses can do to their customers

Starting with scary one, https://www.zapr.in/ can understand what TV channels are being watched by your customers by listening to the sound (you know what I mean, mobile frequency stuff :), you can call it anything )

(3) The scariest thing is email to cookie and a full map of the customer (Marketing automation hubspot etc), I worked for a coach who used to consult big Hollywood names in improving their love life, each of their search, page visit etc was visible with email id :), much before GDPR era for sure

(4) Social CRM, another scary data mapping which integrates email, phone with all open data, it creates a full profile of the person, further integrates with marketing automation to create a segment of one & more

Summary: Most of the political parties have a large digital team to use it for their advantage which is often supported by FB, Google etc, they all can data mine (and most of them might be doing it as well), each country should also build and protect its data. There needs to be better policies esp at ISP level. Politicians can create a fuzz about this but this is there and reality, one needs to protect and learn how to use it wisely for competitive advantage.
