Data Talks 2022: building an enthusiastic data-driven community
On 8 – 9 November, Superbet was thrilled to organize the first edition of Data Talks. This premiere event, dedicated to the passionate Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Analytics community in Romania, was hosted at our new headquarters in One Cotroceni Park, Bucharest.
The need for such an event started from acknowledging that data is part of our everyday life, shaping decisions and giving deeper meaning to things which are happening around us.
Andrei Popa , Business Intelligence Director at Superbet Group, focuses on the vision behind Data Talks:
This conference was the first step in creating a data-driven community in Romania, one where Business Intelligence leaders can share their struggles, find scalable solutions, or just simply learn from each other.
There are significant opportunities in having data-analytics experts collaborating across industries. As we go forward, it is my firm belief that we can create impactful initiatives that will lead towards a better experience for customers across industries, while also improving certain ways of working in our societies.

Stretching across two days, Data Talks aimed at reflecting three intertwining spheres of knowledge - data in the world, data in Romania and data in Superbet.

That is why, the first day of the conference introduced speakers from companies considered to be leading authorities in terms of analytics ( 谷歌 ) and then continued with some of the most successful Romanian companies ( Freshful by eMAG Group, Imobiliare.ro and Superbet Group).
On the other hand, the second day focused on Superbet speakers and internal use cases of data analytics, while also including practical sessions. As such, Mara Cislariu , Team Leader Analytics, and Alexandru Stancescu , Head of Data Analytics, both representing btProvider , hosted a Tableau quiz and a live interactive analysis, while Olga Kuzmina , Sales Engineer at Tableau , held a hands-on workshop for the event participants.
This represented a great opportunity to share best practices in working with the Tableau platform and to exemplify what types of insights can be valuable in making strategic business decisions.
Anna Rossudowska , Tableau Leader at Superbet Group, explains the importance of enablement:
We’re all surrounded by data. It underpins the modern world. With the rise of data democratization and tools like Tableau, people who were once far away from data and data analytics are now much closer. They need to use some data analytics skills on a daily basis. This is a trend spanning all areas of business, from operations to customer support, or from finance to marketing.
As the event slogan says, ‘Data talks to us, we just need to learn how to listen.’ And so, we realize how critical it is to empower everyone with at least basic data literacy skills. So, in turn, they can make better decisions using data for themselves and for their businesses.
In a landscape with such a variety of BI professionals, it was also important to have thought leadership moments from the business executives who partner with data teams to deliver the best experience for the customer and reach peak growth.
Ciprian Lazar , Director of Romania Retail and Multichannel Operations at Superbet Group, emphasizes the link between data analytics and customer experience:
Our end goal is to create a best-in-class customer experience and that means understanding what our consumers want at a deeper level. High-level data analytics are essential in obtaining precise insights which help us construct an elaborate image on how our offering will match customer expectations.
This is where the Data Talks community comes into play, as a forum of professionals who will shape the consumer-centric companies of the future.
Closing the page on Data Talks 2022, we can say it was only the first chapter of a journey which is just beginning. Furthermore, the mission of this event series is to spark engaging conversations about business intelligence rather than leading the topics, so we can expect future events to be extended in scope.
