In the world of seismic data acquisition, processing and interpretation, data storage technology has been a burden. Computing muscle and processing speeds have made a quantum leap forward, providing breakthroughs in seismic processing volume and throughput. The remaining obstacle to efficiently exploiting these latest system advances was inadequate mass storage. The industry relies primarily on technologies now considered inefficient.
