How I am reversing my diabetes thanks to my data science skills

I get quite excited when I see how people use Data Science for personal development. This article describes the author’s journey how tracking and analysing his blood sugar level helped him to reverse type 2 diabetes. This requires a lot of dedication, especially recording everything you eat. Kudos to the author. I have collected personal data on an app before but find it hard to stick with it. However, analysing the data is exciting.

Jupiter Games

Great summary of different simple games that can be programmed in?Jupyter. I have been looking for a way to teach my 6 year old some programming and this looks promising. He already knows some of the games and it might help to make it meaningful to him.?

Resilience and the Stockdale Paradox

The post discusses future trends that are relevant for investors. However, it touches societal developments and the environment as much as money opportunities which aren’t advised directly. This is not a Data Science article at all but something I have read with interest and want to share as I feel it’s very relevant when you make life decisions.

Neural Networks: parameters, hyperparameters and optimization strategies

Article that explains neural network (hyper parameter) settings in some detail without too much information.?

Data to engineers ratio: A deep dive into 50 top European tech companies

The article analysis the number of engineering and data vacancies for a selection of European companies that span different industries. The author is interested in seeing the ratio of data vs. engineering?professionals and finds almost perfect clusters of B2B, B2C, Fintech and Marketplace/physical goods companies that share similar ratios of data to engineer jobs. The conclusion appears to be that when profit margins are small and the company has a lot of customers, it pays to utilise the value of data. However, if you are a B2B company with a few large customers this appears less important and opportunities for differentiation through data are less obvious.

A practical intro to Discrete Wavelet Transformation

I love the interactive format of this introduction to wavelet transformation and it easy to tailor it to what you want to learn about wavelets in particular. I'm determined to use wavelets more in my work going forward. On the website, you can learn about different types of wavelets as well as use cases and how to use them with lots of links to further resources.

explainerdashboard

Innovative python library that spins up a web app to display model explainer charts also utilising SHAP library which is great on its own already. This is particularly useful for neural network models or other 'black box' models.
