This article will discuss the tasks that I completed as a "Data Science and Business Analyst Intern" @The Sparks Foundation.


Task 1


Superstore Sales-Profit Dashboard

Sheet 1: Profit By State

This sheet shows a map of the United States, with each state colored according to its overall profit. Darker shades of blue represent higher profits, while lighter shades of blue represent lower profits. The map also includes a tooltip that shows the total profit for each state when the user hovers over it.

Sheet 2: Top N Cities in Loss

This sheet shows a vertical bar chart showing the top 10 cities in terms of losses. The chart is sorted by loss, with the city with the highest loss at the top. The chart also includes a tooltip that shows the total loss for each city when the user hovers over it.

Sheet 3: Shipping Modes

This sheet shows a dual axis horizontal bar chart that shows sales and profit by shipping mode. The left axis shows sales, while the right axis shows profit. The chart also includes a line chart that shows profit by shipping mode. The line chart is superimposed on the bar charts, which makes it easy to see how sales and profit compare by shipping mode.

Sheet 4: Profit vs Sales

This sheet shows a dual axis chart that shows profit and sales by product category. The left axis shows sales, while the right axis shows profit. The chart also includes a line chart that shows profit by product category. The line chart is superimposed on the bar chart, which makes it easy to see how sales and profit compare by product category. When the user hovers over the profit line, a donut chart appears that shows the breakdown of sales by category, subcategory, and sales.

Sheet 5: Profit By Category

This sheet shows a donut chart that shows the breakdown of profit by product category. The donut chart is color-coded, with each slice representing a different product category. The chart also includes a tooltip that shows the total profit for each product category when the user hovers over it.

Sheet 6: Profit By Region

This sheet shows a donut chart that shows the breakdown of profit by region. The donut chart is color-coded, with each slice representing a different region. The chart also includes a tooltip that shows the total profit for each region when the user hovers over it.

Dashboard Interactions

The dashboard includes a number of interactive elements that allow users to explore the data in more detail. For example, users can:

  • Click on a state on the map in Sheet 1 to view a list of all cities in that state, along with their respective profits.
  • Click on a bar in the chart in Sheet 2 to view a list of all products sold in that city, along with their respective losses.
  • Select a shipping mode in Sheet 3 to view the sales and profit for that shipping mode over time.
  • Hover over a bar in the chart in Sheet 4 to view a donut chart that shows the breakdown of sales by category, subcategory, and sales.
  • Click on a slice of the donut chart in Sheet 5 to view a list of all products in that category, along with their respective profits.
  • Click on a slice of the donut chart in Sheet 6 to view a list of all states in that region, along with their respective profits.

This Tableau dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of global terrorism trends based on data from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD). The dashboard is divided into five sheets:

  • Sheet 1: Hot Zones Based on KillsThis sheet shows a world map with countries color-coded based on the number of terrorist kills recorded in the GTD. The darker the color, the more kills were recorded in that country.
  • Sheet 2: Terrorist Group Kills & WoundsThis sheet shows a dual axis bar and area chart showing the number of kills and wounds caused by terrorist groups over time. The bar chart shows the total number of kills and wounds each year, while the area chart shows the trend in kills and wounds over time.
  • Sheet 3: Attacks by RegionThis sheet shows a bubble chart showing the number of terrorist attacks in each region of the world. The size of the bubble represents the number of attacks, and the color of the bubble represents the region.
  • Sheet 4: Top TargetsThis sheet shows a horizontal bar chart showing the top targets of terrorist attacks. The bar chart is sorted by the number of attacks, with the most targeted targets at the top.
  • Sheet 5: Attacks over the Years This sheet shows a tree map chart showing the number of terrorist attacks by year and attack type. The size of the rectangle represents the number of attacks, and the color of the rectangle represents the attack type. When a user hovers over a rectangle, a pie chart appears showing the distribution of attack types within that year.

  • Click on a bar on the horizontal bar chart on Sheet 4 to view more detailed information about the number of terrorist attacks on that target.
  • Hover over a rectangle on the tree map chart on Sheet 5 to view a pie chart showing the distribution of attack types within that year.

This Tableau dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of the win factors in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The dashboard is divided into five sheets:

  • Sheet 1: Wins by Teams over the SeasonsThis sheet shows the total number of wins by each team over the course of the IPL. The data is presented in a horizontal bar chart, with the teams ranked from highest to lowest number of wins.
  • Sheet 2: Toss Factor This sheet shows the percentage of matches won by the teams that wins the toss. The data is presented in a pie chart, with 2 slices representing “Yes“and “No”.
  • Sheet 3: Batsman's Rank This sheet shows the top 5 batsmen in the IPL, ranked by their batting total. The data is presented in a text table, with the batsman's name, rank, and batting total listed in each column.
  • Sheet 4: Bowler's Rank This sheet shows the top 5 bowlers in the IPL, ranked by their total wickets. The data is presented in a text table, with the bowler's name, rank, and total wickets listed in each column.
  • Sheet 5: First vs Second Innings Win% This sheet shows the percentage of matches won by the team batting first vs. the team batting second. The data is presented in a vertical bar chart, with the two teams compared side-by-side.

The dashboard includes a number of interactive elements that allow users to explore the data in more detail. For example, users can:

  • Click on a team in the horizontal bar chart to view more detailed information about the team's performance over the years.
  • Hover over a slice of the pie chart to view the percentage of matches won by the team that won the toss.
  • Select a different team from the drop-down menu on the text tables to view the top 10 batsmen and bowlers for that team.
  • Click on the "Switch" button on the vertical bar chart to compare the win percentage of the team batting first vs. the team batting second in a different way.

Conclusion

Taking all these elements into account, it can be recommended that teams like MI, CSK, and RCB, as well as players such as Virat Kohli, Raina, and Malinga, are the ideal choices for a company to consider endorsing its products.



Task 4


Covid-19 Data Analysis Dashboard

Task-4



This Tableau dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of the spread of COVID-19 cases in Asia. The dashboard is divided into four sheets:

  • Sheet 1: Total No. of cases

This sheet shows a map of Asia with the total number of COVID-19 cases in each country. The map is color-coded, with darker shades representing a higher number of cases. This sheet can be used to quickly identify the countries in Asia that have been most affected by the pandemic.

  • Sheet 2: Top 5 Ranks (Deaths vs GDP)

This sheet shows a dual axis bar and line chart comparing the top 5 countries in Asia by number of deaths and GDP per capita. The bar chart shows the number of deaths per million population, while the line chart shows the GDP per capita in US dollars. This sheet can be used to compare the death toll from COVID-19 with the economic development of each country.

  • Sheet 3: Vaccination Data

This sheet shows a tree map of the vaccination rates in Asia. The tree map is colored based on the percentage of the population that has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This sheet can be used to quickly identify the countries in Asia that have made the most progress in vaccinating their populations.

  • Sheet 4: Hospitals Data

This sheet shows a packed bubble chart of the number of hospitals in each country in Asia. The bubble chart is sized based on the number of hospitals, and colored based on the type of hospital. This sheet can be used to compare the availability of healthcare resources in different countries in Asia.
