Pinsight Media is a subsidiary of Sprint, one of the largest US telecom service providers. In three years they went from having no presence in the mobile advertising market to serving more than six billion advertising impressions every month due to wise data driven decision. They collected location data of users (using radio towers the user were hitting), behavioral data i.e. what services where they using – gaming, shopping or learning (based on what platforms they were sending data to) and demographic data (age, gender available in the billing information) to be able to run highly efficient targeted advertising. The rich-data sources meant that users were served with more relevant ads and less junk.
