DATA ARCHITECTURE + DATA ENGINEERING

By W H Inmon

The world is turning its attention to data engineering and that is a good thing. Led by pioneers Joes Reis and Matt Housley the discipline of data engineering is in good, competent hands.

But data engineering is only half of the battle. Any data engineer knows that they need data architecture to accompany data engineering. Data engineering and data architecture are the yen and yang of modern information processing. You have to have both ingredients in order to be successful.

One of the challenges of data architecture is that it is constantly moving. It is like the Mississippi river. At any moment in time the water in front of you is different from the water in front of you at any other moment in time. The constant motion of water in the river and the evolution of data architecture is simply a fact of life. Not a lot to argue about.

The relationship between data architecture and data engineering is like that of a car engine and gasoline. Data engineering consumes data architecture in the same way that the combustion engine consumes gasoline.

The good news is that – like standard gasoline – there are a lot of similarities in data architecture paradigms across industries and across the countries of the world. To that end there is a common data architecture that is well defined for the year 2023.

A visual description of data architecture 2023 along with a brief explanation of the architectural paradigm is available to anyone – for free. Just go to forestrimtech.com and look for data architecture. Forest Rim is happy to send you the high level data architecture paradigm/rendition for 2023. Let Forest Rim know who and where to send the architectural rendition of data architecture to and the architectural rendition will be there for you post haste. For free. No strings attached.

The data architecture paradigm/rendition that you will receive is a high-level understanding of data architecture as of 2023 as data architecture exists in the world today. You can use it to compare to your architectural plans and match thoughts and ideas with the experts.

The architectural paradigm/rendition that you will receive is at a high level and you will want to add and interpret the many details for your organization. But getting data architecture right at the highest level is a really good starting place. And it is as easy as just getting on the Internet.

And it is that magic word – FREE.

It is easy and free. Doesn’t get any better than that.

A good way to start 2023.

the landscape has changed and as is yet unseen. Cleansing data today would be in neutralizing fencing/parsing language.
