Data Drives the Charge: Securing Grants and Building Smart EV Networks

The EV revolution is accelerating, fueled by a recent $622 million investment through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program. The awards to 47 projects in 24 states and territories promise to deploy 7,500 EV charging ports. This strategic rollout prioritizes both urban and rural communities, offering a mix of Level 2 and DC Fast Charging options to cater to diverse needs. Notably, a majority of the awarded grants specifically target disadvantaged and Justice40 communities, ensuring equitable access to clean transportation and prioritizing those most vulnerable to air pollution and climate change.

The CFI grant program, a cornerstone of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, operates in tandem with the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, a $7.5 billion initiative aiming to deploy 500,000 EV chargers nationwide within five years.?

But navigating the complexities of grant applications and planning an optimized charging network can leave even the most ambitious operators feeling drained. That's where data science comes in, giving you the strategic base you need to make local and federal authorities see you as the right partner.

At Dodona, we're not just building software, we're building the ‘brains’ needed to define and develop behind a fit for purpose network of EV charging infrastructure. Our data-driven platform takes the guesswork out of network planning, empowering you to:

Secure a Winning Grant:

  • Identify High-Potential Locations: Our platform analyzes real-time data on EV adoption, traffic patterns, and existing charging infrastructure to pinpoint areas with the highest demand and grant-approval potential. Think strategic placements near apartment complexes, busy highways, and popular travel destinations.
  • Craft a Compelling Evidence-based Narrative: Data speaks volumes. We equip you with data, powerful reports and visualizations that showcase the economic and environmental benefits of your proposed network, leaving grant reviewers fully charged with confidence.
  • Demonstrate Equity and Access: The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law prioritizes underserved communities. Our platform helps you identify areas with limited charging access and tailor your network accordingly, ensuring equitable distribution of this critical resource.

Plan a Network that Serves, Thrives & Survives:

  • Predictive Insights: Forget crystal balls, we use data to predict future EV demand, ensuring your network stays ahead of the curve. No more stranded drivers, just satisfied customers and optimal resource allocation.
  • Dynamic Optimization: As the EV landscape evolves, so should your network. Our platform continuously monitors charging utilization and adjusts station placement and capacity to keep pace with demand, maximizing your return on investment.
  • Data-Driven Partnerships: Collaborate with confidence. Our platform facilitates data sharing with municipalities, utility companies, and other stakeholders, enabling joint venture agreements and strategic partnerships that strengthen your network and expand its reach.

The $623 million granted is just the tip of the iceberg. With ambitious goals of 500,000 public chargers by 2030, the demand for data-driven solutions is skyrocketing. By choosing Dodona, you're not just plugging into a platform, you're plugging into a network of expertise, innovation, and a shared vision for a brighter, cleaner future powered by EVs.

Nice article Chris Chamberlain. The ideal scenario of having collaboration of data sharing between municipalities, utilities, private stakeholders sounds like a dream. This initial step of building a strong infrastructure is a good step forward. Of course there is a lot of old infrastructure here thats complex and tied- hopefully future recipients can incorporate detangling the old as they lay foundation for the new.
