Data-Driven Marketing for Restaurateurs | Part 1

Data-Driven Marketing for Restaurateurs | Part 1

Avocado on toast, cucumber and spinach smoothie, quinoa in a bowl and a crème brule is everything a millennial wishes to eat. And if they are eating it, you will know because they are probably going to click a photo and Instagram it.?

So if you are in the restaurant business, you must know three things about how millennials choose restaurants:

  • One, they rarely do they make a dining decision (or any decision, really) without consulting their phones
  • Two, they are craving for custom-made experiences. They will be delighted if you recognize them the moment they walk into your shop
  • Three, whether the experience was great or not so great, they’re going to share it on social media

These facts suggest that restaurants need to leverage digital marketing, now more than ever, to attract this audience. But how?

Here’s a quick look at what should be on your 2020 Digital Marketing Menu:

1. Get social by getting personal.

To Millennials, a restaurant is more than just a place to eat, it’s a place to hang & chill. A social experience where they tell their personal stories.

2. Be digitally integrated.

Millennials know how to use the tools but it’s your job to make the decision making journey easier.

3. Use photos to start conversations.

Millennials gravitate towards simple, minimalistic visuals, so use images to show who you are, not just what you serve.

4. Test, Test, Test till you succeed.

Know “Who responded to that”. Online marketing has a unique advantage over traditional marketing in the fact that everything can be tied back to a cookie or a customer ID

We are entering an era where apps offer food-logging and personalized recommendations to wearable devices, technology will help choose “healthy for me” options—and make them easily available, where drones may deliver our food and bots would order our favorite dessert as soon as we enter the RESTO.?

In Part 2, I will elaborate on the four menu options. So, if you enjoyed this post and found it informative, come back tomorrow for Part 2.
