The Data is Clear: Gen Z Investors care more than Just Making Money!

It's no secret that young people today are more socially and environmentally conscious than ever before. But just how far will they go to make sure the companies they invest in meet their standards? That's what a team of data analysts from Morning Consult set out to discover.

To get an idea of just how important environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors are to Gen Z investors, the analysts looked at a group of 20-something individuals who had recently graduated from college and were in the process of establishing their investment portfolios. What they found was that nearly 80% of the group considered ESG factors when making investment decisions. Moreover, nearly 60% said they would be willing to sacrifice returns in order to invest in companies that met their ESG standards.?

Generation Z Expects Companies to Act Responsibly?

When it comes to corporate responsibility, Gen Z is not messing around. According to the survey, 85% of respondents said that they expect companies to act responsibly when it comes to environmental issues. That includes reducing their carbon footprint, using renewable energy sources, and limiting plastic waste. They also want companies to be transparent about their environmental practices - so they can hold them accountable if necessary!?

Generation Z Demands Ethical Practices from Companies?

Gen Z isn't just interested in a company's environmental practices - they also have high standards when it comes to labor rights and gender equality. In fact, 82% of respondents said that they believe companies should pay fair wages and comply with labor laws. They also want companies to commit to promoting gender equality in hiring practices (75%), as well as within their leadership teams (76%).?

Generation Z Wants Companies to Make a Positive Impact on Society?

Finally, Gen Z expects companies to make a positive impact on society as a whole. This could include donating money or resources to charity organizations (77%), creating products that help solve social problems (73%), or supporting initiatives related to diversity and inclusion (72%). This generation is looking for more than just profit-driven success - they want companies that will do good in the world!??

It's clear that Generation Z is serious about corporate responsibility and ethical practices - both when it comes to environmental issues and social justice causes alike. Businesses would be wise to take note of these expectations and start implementing responsible policies now - before Gen Z takes over the workforce! Thankfully, there are plenty of resources available for businesses who are looking for guidance on how best to meet these standards. With a little bit of effort, businesses can ensure they're up-to-date with the latest ESG regulations - while still earning Gen Z's approval!
