Data collection and its applications are the most crucial business challenges. In the information age, there is an undeniable link between online data analysis and corporate performance. People analytics applications, advanced analysis of large data sets, and talent management are becoming mainstream.    

It would help if one made data-driven decisions and had business development dashboards to ensure one gets the best returns possible. By leveraging insights, information, and metrics that are valuable to one's business - both internally and externally - and understanding how to take meaningful action from the data one has, it is possible to ensure that the business model remains robust, resilient, and competitive. From supply chain success to improving reporting and process communication, every area of your business, the collaboration between departments, and overall organizational innovation - one can benefit from analytics and structured live dashboards to improve one's data management efforts.    

Successful organizations understand the significance of using data to measure business performance, providing the necessary statistics that can be used to measure key performance indicators, and providing the information required to make operational and strategic decisions about improvements, adjustments, and modifications of existing systems and processes. Different types of performance data can show which strategies are working well and need to be adapted and give a high-level picture of the organisation.  

Raw data has no value; it is the insights gained from analyzing the data to help make significant business improvements. The data tell us an important story about how we process it, with a proven structure and approach. The data analysis is not just about the power of data but about presenting the right people and companies to put any information into practice.  

Today, it is easier than ever to collect data that helps one understand their customers and their business. It has become so easy that there is a risk of having too much data to deal with. 

 Data analysis is nothing new. In the past, companies have relied on various patterns and conclusions drawn from the study and collection of data from their business environment. The difference these days is that the analysis is done with extensive data analysis software systems that have entered the stage. Technical advances that enable better visibility at no cost, the ability to analyze in more detail and faster, and combine financial data, operational and unstructured data, texts and images, mean that new approaches to performance management can be used.    

One needs to discover how a business can generate value from data to implement predictive analyses, maintain its processes and operational control.    

There is no doubt that business performance analyses must be built on a solid foundation of sound data governance, an integrated approach to data management, analysis and insight, and leading decision-making culture. The importance of linking expected analysis results with business objectives should not be overemphasized. Today we have reached a point where the question is no longer relevant to whether companies should use big data to gain a competitive advantage and achieve agility.  

Advances in data processing and visualization have made it easier than ever for your business to grow with data. If you don't use data to uncover insights that will guide your business into the future, you become a company of the past.    

Today's digitization has transformed the business landscape, and many progressive organizations are beginning to treat data as a valuable business asset. While many companies invest heavily in improving data management, few use data to influence business performance. 

One way that leading organizations use big data is to manage their workforce and help them understand their actual human resource needs. For example, Sales Analytics can draw on metrics to predict sales, identify risks and risks of business model, identify costs and help develop appropriate retention strategies. According to data from Harvard Business Review, 51% of companies use data analysis to look at their employee's data. The study also found that 47% of the companies surveyed reported a lack of analytical talent in the HR team. For cultural change to impact, teams need to maintain a consistent relationship with data, perform simple analyses from quarter to quarter, and develop a long-term understanding of human resources performance trends.    

While it is significant that companies are trying to improve employee engagement, they should also measure it. Measurement is the first step that companies should take when implementing meaningful measures to improve their engagement. Gallup researchers study these findings to learn more about employee engagement and its impact on organizational and team performance.   

Using McKinsey's Organizational Health Index (OHI) tool, 37 management practices have been identified contributing most to companies' health and long-term performance. They strive to improve understanding of such practices and the impact of front-line leadership.    

In short, data helps executives make intelligent decisions about where to take their companies. Tracking and reviewing business process data enables you to detect performance failures to understand which parts of the process have failed and what steps need to be taken to improve performance. SMEs can gain the same advantage as large organisations if they use data in the right way.
