The event's highlight was the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing our official recognition by the Chinese scientific community. Over two days, 100 attendees explored MatTek’s innovative products, the latest advancements in standardization and validation, and key updates on New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in China. Additionally, 15 scientists received hands-on training in the TG492 EpiOcular method, furthering our commitment to education and collaboration.     Our recent CELLEX-MatTek Life Sciences seminar was a huge success, celebrating the start of local production of our cutting-edge 3D models, EpiDerm, EpiOcular, and MelanoDerm. Over two inspiring days, more than 100 professionals joined us for the first day of conferences, and 15 scientists engaged in an in-depth training on the OECD TG492 method for ocular irritation at Cellex’s state-of-the-art labs.     MatTek is exhibiting and presenting this week at the Association of Inhalation Toxicologists Annual Conference. Dr. Seyoum Ayehunie is presenting a poster on the development of multi-species airway tissue models. One of the challenges in the adoption of NAMs is the existence of large databases of animal toxicity data which are not directly translatable to data obtained from human in vitro airway tissue models due to species differences. To close that translational gap, Dr. Ayehunie and our R&D group have developed airway models from cells harvested from rats and non-human primates (NHP) to compare data to EpiAirway, MatTek's human airway model. These translational tools are vital to predicting airway inhalation toxicity and for bridging the in vitro-in vivo knowledge gap to reliably predict human responses, while providing an alternative approach to animal experimentation.     Our colleagues, Alonso Alain and Viktor Karetsky, participated in a seminar organized by Kurabo Industries LTD, our valued partner and distributor in Japan. This seminar gathered numerous attendees from various industries such as cosmetics, medical devices, and pharma. Viktor presented and led a discussion on our ongoing projects including the pre-validation of toxicity assays using our EpiVaginal and EpiAirway models, as well as development of MatTek’s new tissue models such as EpiLiver and EpiKidney. After the seminar a lively Q&A session took place. In the following days the MatTek and Kurabo team exhibited at the 2024 Japan Society of Toxicology meeting held in Fukuoka and presented a poster.
