Data and Analytics./Data./Reality./1
Data Reality - Quality over quantity, period. However big the data are
Like someone from the data science world said, you can learn more from a handful of men than a million mice.
Quantity will not make up for quality.
With the deafening drumbeat of Big data and ML/AI, it is very easy to go down the slippery slope of more the data, better the analytics, hence better the decision outcomes. Wrong. More of poor quality data is just that, poor quality and the resultant decisions will be disastrous. Working with even moderate quality of data can be harmful at the very least.
So relentless focus on quality of data has to be a key guiding principle for anyone who is involved with data. And quality should be the top most KPI while putting together a data generation/ acquisition plan.
If you had to choose one dimension, then put everything aside and focus on quality.
PS: Starting with this, I plan to write a series of short snippets on data strategies, the realities of today's small and big data world, analytical methods and machine learning, tools, software and about businesses related to this discipline. So they will be all about data analytics, and anything which is within reasonable degree of separation from it.
Nomenclature of the post: Data and Analytics - high level, Data - core topic within that, Reality - the idea/sentiment of the post, 1 - the sequence of the post in this series.
