Data Analyst

Data Analyst

I want to be a data analyst, it was not my goal when I was 11 or 12 years old. Well the career options were engineering, teaching, medical or civil services. I opted for teaching not because I was interested in teaching students but only for the love of writing on the blackboard with a chalk. I started tutoring at age 18, but with time I changed, I took a break from tutoring at 22 years and thought of giving writing a chance because of a slight change in my educational career.?

I must say, I was a picky writer. Not every topic piqued my interest. Fortunately I could publish 2 to 3 Letters to the Editors(LTEs) and 2 articles in a local newspaper out of which one was about data. My head got fixated on data, and I wanted to know more about it.?

The seed of curiosity grew with this article (Page 17) I wrote after I’d watched The Great Hack on Netflix back in 2019. At that point, I really didn’t know whom I should ask about data as the fear of not coming from a technical background made me step back every time. I must say you really don't know how time passes by when you are in survival mode. Back then I used to watch a lot of videos about data.

In 2023, I thought of learning about data science but ended up confused. Meanwhile I was also reading a lot of self-help books Lighter by Yung Pueblo, The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, Start with Why by Simon Sinek and I came upon a lighthouse by Shantanu Naidu.

At the end of 2023 I was a bit clear on what to take first in order to learn about data. I always knew one thing about me right from the very beginning and that was I am best at making things simpler once I understand it.?It is something I often teach my students too.

In the following visual, I took the dataset from here. I downloaded the hypertension table and did a bit of data cleaning, filtering and renaming values. At first I thought of importing the data to SQL, but it was taking a long time, so I took the data in BigQuery and did the needed cleaning process and exported it to Tableau Public. The dashboard consists of 4 charts all of which are filtered, a really shocking observation was even children aged 11 years has chest pains. Being healthy, both physically and mentally is extremely important. It's a topic quite close to me. Hope to dig into more datasets and come up with insightful observations.
