Data Analysis Project-Excel Dashboard

In this project we will use project management sample data. Excel is a widely used for data analysis that's why we will analyze this dataset in excel.

Step 1. Download the dataset and open the file.

Step 2. Observe the data to find if there is a need to make changes! This is step is important. Data can be unsorted, have spaces, number data types can be in text etc. 1. Check for blank cell in a column. Press Ctrl + down arrow. It will take us to the last row if there is no spaces or take us to the one row above the blank cell. 2. Check for blank cell in whole data. Right click anywhere on the sheet or press F5-- a go-to dialogue box will appear--click special--then select blank cell. It will make visible all the blank cells in the data. In this data there are no blank cells. 3. Check date column for date format. Change date format to YYYY-DD-MM Select the date column--go to home tab--number--customer--yyyy--mm-dd. 4. Now check the currency format and remove the currency symbol for calculations purposes.

Step 3. Now we have cleaned the data and we can work on it. First we need to make out insights from the data. 1. Status of all projects.

2. Percentage of expense to budget.

3. Longest running projects, project type wise.
