Data seems to be one of the trending terms nowadays and rightfully so. Whenever I read about Data, the conversations tend to get too technical too soon, and I fear that that could be making some of the target audience skip a reading that I think could make or break their future.
I am going to try to make some statements about Data in non technical terms to hopefully engage upper management executives who don’t speak the technical lingo.
- Data helps you make informed decisions. The more you know about your customers the more relevant your offer towards them can be, very simple.
- Data helps you understand performance. Everything digital can be put into units and measured. What used to be an art is now a science.
- Data helps you improve processes. And become more efficient in everything your company does.
- Data helps you understand customers. There is a big difference between “Potential car buyer” and “Female, 35 years old, single, active lifestyle, sports enthusiast, lives alone, likes cooking, reading, focused on her professional career, lives in downtown, likes outdoor activities, has $5,000 in disposable monthly income and is looking for a car”.
- Data helps organisations get the results they want. Via constant measuring the effectiveness of a given strategy.
- Data lets you back up your arguments. Forget about where the wind is blowing from, illustrating your argument through the use of data will allow you to demonstrate why changes are needed.
- Data lets you know what you are doing well, and allows you to replicate areas of strength across your organization.
- Data allows you to keep track of everything, and establish benchmarks, baselines and goals to keep moving forward.
- Data makes you smart in an increasingly competitive world.
- Your competition is already making data driven decisions, are you?
