Data accuracy and integrity for independent retailers.
For almost 20 years, rascal systems’ data and process solutions have been cutting waste and boosting profitability in supermarkets. Now we are looking at options that could bring our EPoS and data management services to local community shops.
At a basic level the rascal price file is a tool that automatically updates prices, preventing undercharging at the counter. For one UK-based forecourt operator these errors were costing the 200-strong chain more than £100k per year. That's a direct hit to profits of c. £500 per store, per year.
The problems relating to data accuracy and integrity are only going to get worse. As cover prices increase, the cost of unreturned and/ or stolen copies for retailers is rising, creating a "profitability squeeze" across the category.
So, why have independent retailers have not adopted the solutions despite facing the greatest risk? rascal is now exploring options for widening access and availability to their solutions and services beyond the major players.
We are speaking with EPoS companies and looking at integration options with the aim of opening up a number of sales, profit and efficiency opportunities for independent retailers.
By teaming up with EPoS providers and helping with tighter data management, there is the potential for independent retailers to gain access to a variety of tools that help drive profitability, such as sales-based replenishment or rascal's price file. These tools are not only applicable for newspapers and magazines but across a range of product areas where unnecessary data and process complexity exist, which impact retailers’ profitability.
