Dashboard showing the impact Covid-19 is having on the US labor market by various segments
Hi all. I want to share a dashboard my friends at OneModel pulled together on the impact Covid-19 is having on the US job market by various segments, with links to associated webinar(s). Free Public Dashboard: https://covidjobimpacts.greenwich.hr/ (dashboard updated daily)
This is probably of most relevance to some of my nerdy business/HR friends. For others - this may give you some limited window in the brave new world of HR data that I live in and try to help companies navigate. I get so many complaints - "We don't know what you do."
OneModel is headquartered in Austin and has offices in Australia and the UK. I was privileged to work for them for a short time in Austin, as well as implement their data management reporting solution internally with two San Francisco Bay Area clients/employers. Top of the line stuff.
The share/webinar is not about the product and is not prescriptive. They simply are engaging the business community around a time relevant topic, while illustrating some of the features a cloud based dashboard solution should have. One of the problems with sales and marketing on an HR Data and Analytics solution is that no company will let you share their data publicly and fake data just doesn't have the same ring of truth to it. This problem should not be under-estimated in that it is hard to showcase a solution on the abstract idea of what the solution can do, as opposed to experience it directly. I give OneModel and their partner for this credit for putting the work in to put together some data they think the world may be interested in, which also allows them to showcase the tool & service they provide in an indirect way.
OneModel is an cloud software as a service HR reporting & analytics platform, which you might think of as a near fully externally managed technology solution. They are good at making connections to disparate HR systems and fashioning them into a single “data model” for purposes of reporting and analysis. They have the most flexible and advanced security model in the business, built for the sensitivities of people/HR data. When you get into the details, there is no other solution exactly like it. They have clients across a variety of industries, including some large technology and financial services companies. The idea of their services is the cost to build and support a competing solution internally is a lot more than the cost to rent. At Pure Storage we implemented OneModel as a central data store that we connected Tableau to, as well as other applications like "R", although we used some of the native reporting behind scenes to build slide presentations for the management team and board. I have since moved on, left in good hands with Ryan Hammond - a friend, an ex MIT, ex-Google, etc. guy. I am sure Ryan and Co have taken it much further than where I left it.
I receive no compensation for writing and sharing this post. I just know a lot of people in my line of work would be interested and wanted to spread the news. On occasion my work centers on implementing technology solution to enhance the efficient flow of information but I would say my more important work is in framing problems worth analyzing, designing measures and helping organizations either solve immediate problems or extract informational competitive advantages from those measures. While nobody who does work or wants to do work in this space is a dummy (at all) I was asked to write the book People Analytics for Dummies and so I took a year off to do so. I am the author but it's not my book, it's Wiley's; available on Amazon or wherever books are sold. More recently I have been doing work in analyzing Employee Compensation & Benefits. Please do let me know if you have any questions.
Figure out how to get people back to work/productivity safely, and be well!
