Dash Spotlight: Exploring L&D with Supercell and Sana Labs!

Ciao, Dash fam!

It’s time for another exciting update from Dash! This week, Edi and I (People Team) had the incredible opportunity to attend the L&D Meetup Brunch at the Supercell office, co-hosted by Supercell and Sana Labs, on Wednesday, May 22. As the only NGO student-led organization present, we felt quite honored to be invited and it was thrilling to dive for the first time into Learning and Development (L&D). Let’s share what we learned! ??

?? What is Sana Labs?

Sana Labs is at the forefront of AI-powered learning solutions. They are pioneering the integration of artificial intelligence into L&D, aiming to revolutionize how modern people teams learn and grow. Their AI-first learning platform is designed to enhance knowledge through data availability, computational power, and cutting-edge algorithms. This approach is not only innovative but is also set to transform how organizations handle L&D.

?? Fireside Chat

During the fireside chat, we heard from Minkyung Song, L&D Professional and Coach at Supercell; Meera Klemola, L&D Lead at Supercell; and Rita Acevedo, Strategic Learning Partner Manager at Sana Labs.?

Supercell’s philosophy of focusing on the “next practice” rather than the “best practice” was particularly inspiring. Their approach includes holistic development, ensuring employees grow personally and professionally. We also learned about the importance of a unified platform for knowledge sharing and how AI can help automate onboarding pathways and spot biases. This allows employees to focus on more meaningful work. Minkyung shared her journey at Supercell and the importance of a user-friendly platform for L&D. Empowering teams to create their own content and fostering a feedback culture were emphasized as key strategies for continuous learning and development.

?? Q&A with Edi

Q: What are your final personal learnings from this experience?

Edi: We learned a lot about what L&D entails, thanks to the experts from Sana Labs and Supercell. One major insight was how AI is expected to shift many People & Culture professionals’ roles by handling simple administrative tasks. This will free up time for employees and professionals to focus more on strategic development. Another key takeaway was Supercell's philosophy of “next practice and focus,” which aims to provide employees with opportunities for holistic growth and understanding. There were many other great insights from this session, but this is something I will explore further.

Q: How would you implement L&D into Dash?

Edi: L&D could be implemented into Dash through a strong feedback culture, as highlighted by the Supercell L&D professional. From day one, being open to feedback is crucial for growth. We’ve already started incorporating brief feedback forms and face-to-face meetings within our core team, which I think is a fantastic start.

?? Food for Thought: Hamming’s Question

We leave you with this thought-provoking question from Richard Hamming that Sana Labs introduced us: “What is the most important problem in your field?” Many know the problem, but the real challenge is figuring out how to solve it. What do you think? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Stay curious ??,

Ann??
