Seeing the Possibilities

When I walked into one of the local high schools, I was excited to spend time with the GENERATION WOW girls. It was a club meeting day, a time and a space where teen girls come together to learn together, inspire, and uplift one another. The moment I entered, I was met with cheers, smiles, and an energy that was instantly contagious.
These were young women already thinking deeply about the kind of world they want to build. As attendees of this magnet school focused on the medical arts, these girls are our future doctors, scientists, researchers, nurses to name a few of their aspirations. We talked about their dreams, their ambitions, and the changes they hope to see in the world. And when I asked, “If you could change one thing, what would it be?” Their answers were as insightful as they were honest.
One spoke about a world —not in theory, but in practice. Another talked about wanting to elevate the voices of women globally, ensuring that no one is silenced. And yes, safety came up—not in a way that defined them, but as a reality they navigate. When I asked how many of them have ever felt unsafe in the world, most hands in the room went up. That moment stayed with me. It got me thinking.
What came next was astounding. Because instead of focusing on fear, these young women talked about the power of sisterhood. About standing together. About how spaces like this one remind them of their strength, their resilience, and their ability to shape the future. And I have no doubt that they will. Their willingness to do so is evident, and with the support of their amazing facilitators, we are inspired and motivated to continue to pour into our GENERATION WOW girls.?
I left the school reminded that the future isn’t something we are waiting for—it’s something we are building right now. These young women are leaders. And when we continue to invest in them, to show up for them, to listen to them, there is no limit to what they can do.
I’m curious: what is one piece of advice you would give to a young woman stepping into leadership? Drop it in the comments—I’d love for them to hear from you.

5 天前I love that idea: that the future is not some amorphous surprise awaiting us behind a corner, but a result of the actions (or inactions) we take today. It's an empowering thought. Thanks for sharing, Donna!
