Damn right it's scary! I'm not going on the dark web, but I know people who will. Web Safe Staff has teamed up with a Dark Market Forum monitoring company to provide you with the ultimate in cyber security awareness!
So if you care about finding your info on the dark web as early as possible, get in touch!
So what is this all about?
Real short and sharp - when your information gets breached, it often ends up on the dark web (a hidden part of the Internet) for sale. More research is done, it gets sold, more research is done, it gets sold, and so on. Eventually, there's enough info to launch more serious attacks, and those attacks could be against you, your company, your friends, or your family. It all depends who did the research, and what they found out!
Why should I care?
If you can find your info on the dark web early, you can also remove it. That means no further research, no further attack. And that means:
- You know you've been breached early, and it's easy / less costly to fix (on average it takes over 6 months to detect a breach)
- It's much less likely that data has been removed from your network
- Large staff downtime costs can potentially be avoided
- Mandatory breach notifications to the OAIC and your customers may be avoided
- You don't lose reputation with your customers
- You don't lose customers!
Who should care the most?
Gatekeepers of confidential customer info are are a massive target (e.g. Managed service providers, accountants, financial planners, hosting providers, cyber security providers etc). But really it applies to any company or individual who wants to do whatever they can to avoid future breaches. Gatekeepers can also become resellers for their clients.
